When we launched this project, no path had been paved. There was no film festival dedicated exclusively to mythology. As we investigated, received the first submissions, and exchanged ideas with experts, we discovered the many dimensions of the word “mythological.” And thus the Tabaca Film Fest was born—the very first Mythological Film Festival.
Embarking on this adventure means venturing to the edges of civilization, exploring the primal stories that define us, and rediscovering the timeless power of storytelling.

The idea for the festival was born from our passion for Pallars Sobirà, its stories, its legends, and for cinema. After countless discussions over the years, our desire to preserve the most mysterious heritage of this land grew into what became the Tabaca Film Fest, which materialized for the first time in 2024.
These mountains are undeniably lands of myths and legends: water spirits, witches, giants… And every corner of the world has its own Yeti, its mermaid, its werewolf, its mountain guardian—in short, its own mythological imagination.
PYRENEAN.

But the Tabaca Film Fest also invites us to reflect: why, even today, can we not live without myths? Why does humanity need shadow? We celebrate a kind of cinema that fascinates us with the inexplicable, that plays with mystery and feeds the enigma of life.
This year, we launch the third edition in Gerri de la Sal, with the same team, Pallars DNA, and even more energy, under the protection of our voliana (local word for “butterfly”) Parnassius apollo, an endangered species that bears the name of a god and soars only above the highest peaks.
